The Australian government has officially cancelled the visa of Bangladeshi Islamic figure Sheikh Ahmadullah, the country’s second-most popular religious speaker, after Maulana Dr. Mizanur Rahman Azhari. The decision was made by the country’s Home Affairs Ministry on Sunday ( April 5 ) local time. The Australian government took this drastic action against Sheikh Ahmadullah after Azhari was forced to leave the country on charges of praising Hitler , anti-Semitism and extremist propaganda.

The official announcement of the cancellation of Sheikh Ahmadullah’s visa came as he was preparing to leave Australia through Sydney Airport, according to reports . Australia’s Assistant Minister for Immigration Matt Thistlethwaite confirmed the decision. He said the Australian government has zero tolerance for anti-Semitic or Islamophobic rhetoric.

In addition, the Daily Telegraph has published a report on the cancellation of Sheikh Ahmadullah’s visa. It says that Sheikh Ahmadullah has in the past called Jews abhorrent and blamed Jews for global unrest. Sheikh Ahmadullah recently visited Australia to participate in the  Legacy of Faith  program organized to mark the 25th anniversary of the ( IPDC ) . As part of the visit, he first reached Melbourne and gave a video message to the Bangladeshi diaspora.

He was scheduled to attend a series of events at Al – Taqwa College in Melbourne on April 3 , the main convention at the Diamond Venue in Sydney on April 4 , the National Convention Centre in Canberra on April 6 , Woodville Town Hall in Adelaide on April 10 and Perth on April 11. However, like Azhari, he had to leave Australia before attending these events.
