Bobby Wine, the opposition candidate in Uganda’s presidential election, was allegedly picked up from his home by an army helicopter. The complaint was made by his party National Unity Platform (NUP). The team claims that it is not yet known where Bobby was taken.
This information was reported on social media on Friday (January 16). A day before this, the presidential election was held in the country. However, it has become difficult to get reliable information as the internet connection has been disconnected after the polls.
Ugandan government authorities have not yet given an official response to the incident. Once popular pop star Bobby Wine is currently Uganda’s most influential opposition leader. In this election, he ran against long-serving President Yoweri Mussoveni.
Al-jazeera According to a report, an NUP official confirmed that military and security agents had entered Bobby Wine’s home. However, it is not yet confirmed whether he was picked up by helicopter or not.
After the vote, Bobby Wine complained on social media that the number of votes counted was much higher than the number of valid voters. He urged people to be careful in this regard.
