Process Initiated to Import Oil from Three Countries to Address Fuel Crisis

The Cabinet Secretary announced that the process of importing oil from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan has begun as part of efforts to address the ongoing fuel crisis.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani shared this information at a press conference following a cabinet meeting held on Thursday night (April 2) at the National Parliament Building, presided over by Prime Minister Tareq Rahman.

He stated that the government is actively seeking alternative sources of oil due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has rendered traditional supply lines somewhat insecure. Consequently, the process of importing oil from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan has already commenced.

He further added that the government continues to provide subsidies in the fuel sector to mitigate hardship for the general populace and is making utmost efforts to manage the current situation effectively.
